Andre Hawkins on Justice

I was taught that justice was a right that every American should have. Also, justice should be the goal of every American. I think that's what makes this country. To me, justice means the innocent should be found innocent. It means that those who do wrong should get their due punishment. Ultimately, it means fair treatment. So a call for justice shouldn't offend or disrespect anybody.

A call to justice shouldn't warrant an apology.

Andre Hawkins
Cleveland Browns

In response to criticism for wearing a t-shirt at the Bengals @ Browns game, asking for justice for the killings of 12-year-old Tamir Rice who was shot 2 seconds after a police officer arrived in a park for playing with an air gun and John Crawford, who was shot by police in a Walmart carrying a toy gun.

Song Lyric Wisdom: Someone to Watch Over Me

Someone to Watch Over Me

There's a saying old says that love is blind
Still we're often told, seek and ye shall find
So I'm going to seek a certain lad I've had in mind

Looking everywhere, haven't found him yet
He's the big affair I cannot forget
Only man I ever think of with regret

I'd like to add his initial to my monogram
Tell me, where is the shepherd for this lost lamb?

There's a somebody I'm longing to see
I hope that he turns out to be
Someone who'll watch over me

I'm a little lamb who's lost in the wood
I know I could always be good
To one who'll watch over me

Although he may not be the man some
Girls think of as handsome
To my heart he carries the key

Won't you tell him please to put on some speed
Follow my lead, oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me

Bob Newhart on Laughter

Laughter gives us distance. It allows us to step back from an event, deal with it and then move on.

I feel with loving compassion the problems of others without getting caught up emotionally in their predicaments that are offering them messages they need for their growth.

Buckminster Fuller on Change

You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.

Cesar Millan on Natural Wisdom

Dogs celebrate life, and they’re okay with death. In fact, they are much better with death than we are. We need to look at them as our teachers in this department. Their natural wisdom can help us find comfort when we are facing our own human frailty and death.

Song Lyric Wisdom: This Is Your Sword

This Is Your Sword

Now brothers and sisters listen to me
These are the few things that I leave to thee
The sword of our fathers with lessons hard taught
The shield strong and sturdy from battles well fought

Well this is your sword, this is your shield
This is the power of love revealed
Carry them with you wherever you go
And give all the love that you have in your soul

The times they are dark, darkness covers the earth
This world's filled with the beauty of God's work
Hold tight to your promise, stay righteous, stay strong
For the days of miracles will come along

Now this is your sword, this is your shield
This is the power of love revealed
Carry it with you wherever you go
And give all the love that you have in your soul

In the days of despair you can grow hard
Till you close your mind and empty your heart
If you find yourself staring in the abyss
Hold tight to your loved ones and remember this

This shield will protect your true sacred heart
The sword will defend from what comes in the dark
Should you grow weary on the battle field
Well do not despair, our love is real

This is your sword, this is your shield
This is the power of love revealed
Carry it with you wherever you go
And give all the love that you have in your soul
And give all the love that you have in your soul
